Committees

Members of the Board of Directors represent undergraduate students at UNBC at various committees and organizations. These include, but aren’t limited to the following:

  • Alliance of British Columbia Students (ABCS): This is a group of issue based advocates for the interests of students within a provincial context. NUGSS is not a formal member of this group, but has communicated with the ABCS when needed.

  • BC Federation of Students: NUGSS is not a member student body of BCFS, but has collaborated on different projects and advocacy with them in the past.

  • Canadian Federation of Students: NUGSS is a provisional member of the CFS and collaborates on different projects and campaigns.

  • Convocation Committee: A inter-departmental committee that prepares for the annual convocation ceremony.

  • Monetary Affairs Commission: A commission provided for in the Bylaws of NUGSS that overlooks all matters financial with NUGSS. A large responsibility that it’s taken on includes the disbursement and consideration of Student Led Organization (SLO) Funding and Student Venture Grants (SVG’s).

  • Northern Sport Centre Board: This is a group comprised of City of Prince George, UNBC and Sport Centre Representatives that are accountable for the operation and strategic direction of the Sports Centre to it’s shareholders.

  • President Executive Council

  • Space Allocation Committee: Recommends and advises the Provost on space allocation policy, in line with provincial directives on space allocation.

  • Student Representatives Caucus: This is an informal information sharing group comprised of Student Board of Governors and Senate representatives, NUGSS Representatives and Graduate Student Representatives, that meets on an as needed basis to discuss matters of importance to UNBC Students.

  • Teaching Space Optimizing Committee

  • University Fees Committee

  • Valedictorian Selection Committee: NUGSS is part of the committee to decide who the Valedictorian will be for each college for each school year.
