The referendum asks if you approve of the NUGSS Board of Directors having the ability to remove the Dental plan component from the current NUGSS Extended Health and Dental plan if this option provides the largest benefit to the most undergraduate students?

The current NUGSS Extended Health and Dental plan is running a deficit, and the NUGSS Board of Directors must make further decisions to balance the cost of the plan with what students actually pay.
One of the proposed options, based on student feedback, was to remove the Dental Plan component and allow undergraduate students to join the Canada Dental Plan instead.

NUGSS would be forced to make further cuts to the Health & Dental Plan coverage. This means that you would have to pay significantly more out of pocket costs when you visit the pharmacy, dentist or health clinics.

The NUGSS Board of Directors have the option of cutting the Dental plan from the Health and Dental plan, if they choose to.

Not necessarily, this referendum gives the Board of Directors the option to cut the plan if they feel it is in the best interest of undergraduate students.

Yes, if you have alternative coverage, you can opt-out and get a full refund in your tuition account.

You will receive an email in your student inbox on April 8th at 9am from the NUGSS President which will contain a link to vote. You have until April 10th at 8am to vote.
